An English Made Ferguson Type Orrery.  Ref:orra.
Measuring approx 10.5in diameter by 11in high,this orrery was designed
by Paul Kellar and made in England by Roy Mallett,about 2004.

Made primarily of solid brass with an oak base,the orrery shows
the Sun,Earth and Moon plus the 5 other planets which were known
when the original designs were made in the 1760's.

The orrery can be set in motion via a traditional hand crank,or by the
electric motor fitted in the base.
Apart from showing the movements of the celestial bodies around the
sun,this orrery has some extra features not common on modern pieces.

The earth encircles the sun but also revolves on it's own axis.
The moon revolves around the earth but also rises and falls
during the lunar month declination.
Demonstrations of moon and sun eclipses,astrological observations
etc can be made.

A fascinating piece,actually useful,attractive to behold and a start
to a new line in collecting ???
