A Skeleton Clock with Coup Perdu Escapement.Ref:ws3401g.
This interesting and unusual clock measures c21.5in high and diameter c10in including the ebonised wooden base and glass dome.
The 8 day chain fusee movement has a coup perdu escapement, also known as "lost beat".
The silvered and engraved dials are all in one piece instead of being separate as is usual practice.
The dials show hours, minutes and seconds separately but also the phases of the moon in the top dial.
The clock is in good working order but is slightly tarnished and could do with cleaning and oiling.
Similar examples are described in Derek Roberts books on skeleton clocks viz:
British Skeleton Clocks, fig 6/34.
Continental and American Skeleton Clocks, page 228.
From these references the clock appears to be British made c1960's.
