An English made Modern Eureka Type Electric Mantel Clock. Ref: eureka. Made c 1970 by G.J.Warren of Benfleet in Essex the clock measures approx 12.5in wide,7in deep and 6.25in high.
Essentially this is the early 1900's Eureka design, but with several modern improvements.Still uses the ubiquitous 1.5 volt battery, and turning the "tall" movement through 90 degrees does not spoil the visual interest.Probably less compact than the early ones. The clock is mostly of brass construction, the base of hardwood, with some quirky use of aluminium and plastic.
This appears to be a one off piece of excellant quality, made by a very skilled craftsman. Currently in good working order, with the unusual feature of a passing strike on a brass bell on the hour.
