A French Automaton Mantel Clock. Ref: ypa.
The clock measures 1ft 6.5in high,7in wide and 5.5in deep.
The 8 day drum movement is stamped B P & F,striking the hours and
half hours on a bell.A separate movement drives the twisted glass fountain
independently.
The case of bronze with gilt fittings and furniture,the dial part engine turned,
silvered and with "Breguet" moon hands.
The case is usually described as Napoleon 3rd,"romantiqe" style,and was fully
restored and regilded about 20 years ago.Date probably 1840-1870,of french
manufacture.
The cherub is trying to catch a butterfly,rocking from side to side,attached
to the escapement.
