A Skeleton Clock with Grasshopper Escapement. Ref: wsn918.
Made in the UK by serious model engineers c1980's,
this clock to W.R Smith's design measures 19in high,
8in wide and 5in deep.There is currently no dome.
Of mainly brass construction,the 8 day movement has
lantern pinions,single wire fusee and compound pendulum. The pendulum is counter balanced,has a
rating nut,beat setting screws and locking device.

Based on John Harrisons design of 1770,the double
wheel grass-hopper escapement was devised to reduce friction,not just to look good,but is a delight to watch !

The clock is currently in slightly tarnished condition due
to many years storage,but works well and keeps good time.
